PRE-FILING COUNSELING PROCESS
Call our local Fayetteville number (479-521-8877) or our toll-free number (1-800-889-4916) for an appointment. The counseling session will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. If you prefer a CCOA representative to contact you to set up an appointment in person or by phone, please
submit a request here
.
After appointment is made, we will either mail or e-mail a letter confirming your appointment and provide you with a pre-filing data sheet/disclosure form. You may also complete and submit the necessary forms by
clicking here
.
If you’ve spoken to a bankruptcy attorney already, she or he may have given you financial disclosure forms to complete. Unfortunately, those forms do not get forwarded to us. So we ask that you please spend some time and complete our
datasheet
prior to the counseling session.
Your certificate can be provided to you or to your attorney after counseling is completed.
Payment ($50 per session) can be made via debit card, personal check or money order, or if you and your attorney agree, the attorney can collect the fee and we will bill the attorney. (The
pre-filing counseling datasheet
also has a section where you may enter your payment information.). Counseling services are offered to clients without regard to ability to pay.
If you are a homeowner, and your mortgage payment is the primary reason you are seeking bankruptcy assistance, you may want to be aware of the possible solutions under the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). If you are interested in finding out more about these options, you can read the HAMP program summary sheet for homeowners by

CCOA is a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agency and we provide mortgage delinquency counseling without charge to the homeowner. If you are interested in speaking to a housing counselor before your pre-filing bankruptcy counseling session, see our mortgage delinquency counseling page in the Housing area of our website.
