Pre-Filing Bankruptcy Counseling

As part of your bankruptcy process, you have to complete a counseling session prior to filing your bankruptcy. This session will last approximately an hour and 15 minutes.Upon completion of the counseling session, a certificate can be provided to you or to your attorney. The certificate expires six months after it's issued.

Payment ($50 per session) can be made via debit card, personal check or money order, or if you and your attorney agree, the attorney can collect the fee and we will bill the attorney. Counseling services are offered to clients without regard to ability to pay.

Fee Waiver Policy: Fee waived for people whose gross monthly income is within 150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline.

If you are a homeowner, and your mortgage payment is the primary reason you are seeking bankruptcy assistance, you may want to be aware of the possible solutions under the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP).
