Designed for first time homebuyers but the class is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the home buying process.  This 5-hour course walks attendees through the home buying process and ongoing homeownership responsibilities.

This class is especially beneficial to those who are eligible for the Arkansas Development Finance Authority’s homebuyer and down payment assistance programs.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Preparing for homeownership – Planning for expenses included in homeownership; increasing borrowing power; and getting credit ready.
  • Shopping for a home – Finding the “right” house; negotiating the purchase price; and home inspections.
  • Obtaining a mortgage – Shopping and applying for a loan; loan processing; and preparing to close on a home.
  • Life as a homeowner – Maintaining a home; meeting obligations as a borrower; budgeting; and financial benefits of homeownership.
